The uproar in the Middle East is not a reaction to U.S. foreign policy at all. It’s about a movie nobody saw. That’s all. Not only that, the U.S. is super-vigilant around the date of September 11. You can rest assured about that. Jay Carney has the details here:
Updated 9-16: I found a little more evidence that the current violent demonstrations could not be about U.S. foreign policy. They just couldn’t be because we have a different approach now that is working:
Does he mean “extra vigilant” like not allowing bullets in guns and ignoring specific security warnings for those embassies?
Exactly!
Obama said the Islamic countries would have a much better attitude towards us as soon as he was elected. After all, he apologises to them regularly, (even though the last few wars we have fought have been largely to protect Islamic populations from tyrants). He tells them how great Islam is and how much Islam has taught the world about tolerance. That approach has worked out quite well and we can see tolerance and mutual respect breaking out all over the Muslim world.
Don’t let these people who are just angry about a Youtube clip give you the impression that our President’s approach is not working.
